About Deepwood
CARSON WILLE - Luthier, Restoration Specialist
Living deep in the woods of the beautiful Pacific NW coast range gives Carson Wille the inspiration for his craftsmanship. Numerous species of tonewoods are available with wood permits which give access to maple burls and other figured wood that are normally disregarded and burned in piles. Carson’s ability to source electric guitar wood locally brings a special connection to the beautiful stringed instruments he creates.
Each instrument has a unique voice and feeling. Every part matters: the wood, glue, strings, hardware, and the finish. Every aspect of design, build or repair is handled in skilled, loving hands. Set-up for “playability” and “feel” is key to an instrument that will give the musician comfort and long playing time. That is what Deepwood Music brings to the customer.
Growing up in a multi-generational wood-working family, building all kinds of things led to a love of artistry in wood for Carson, a 6th generation woodworker.
Carson specializes in antique restoration work that is deliberate and detail-oriented, never rushed. He has been repairing and restoring guitars and stringed instruments for over ten years.
Carson apprenticed at The Troubadour Music Center, and worked his way to the title of master craftsman. He graduated from Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. He performed final set-ups and fretwork for Santa Cruz Guitars, and repaired violins for local school districts as well as contract work for local shops.
